Dutch wholesaler builds largest European loading bay for e-trucks

Wholesale company Rensa has reached an agreement with the municipality of Doetinchem to buy a plot of almost 15 hectares. Among other things, the company will realise a large in-house loading facility for e-trucks there.
Rensa has grown rapidly as a wholesaler of heating and ventilation products and does not intend to stop doing so any time soon. The agreement with Doetinchem municipality concerns the largest plot on the new A18 Business Park in Wehl. The company will build “a state-of-the-art, innovative and sustainable 80,000-square-metre logistics centre” there from the second half of this year.
Solutions to grid congestion
“This new location not only provides space for Europe’s largest charging plaza for electric trucks, but also for more efficient logistics processes and future expansion,” the company said on its own website. The logistics centre will be equipped with various solutions to prevent grid congestion, such as power generation via solar panels, battery systems and an intelligent energy management system.
From 1 via 6 to 66
With the capacity of the new charging plaza, Rensa is also demonstrating its own sustainable ambitions. The company currently has one electric truck and in the course of this year that will be expanded to six, reports De Gelderlander. By 2030, as many as 66 electric trucks should be able to be charged simultaneously.
