Car leaks dozens of litres of petrol while refuelling

A car’s fuel tank emptied immediately after refuelling on Tuesday morning. This happened at the Shell on the Van de Mortelstraat in Noordwijk. The fire brigade secured the situation.
While refuelling, the driver discovered that petrol was leaking from under her car. Staff at the petrol station spread absorbent granules, closed the petrol station with ribbon and called in the fire brigade. The fire brigade checked the car and then sprayed the area with foam.
The vehicle was towed away by a salvage company. The owner had to pay the cost of about 45 litres of petrol. The petrol station remained closed during the incident.
