Group Bruno acquires André Celis Service Stations in Flemish Brabant
Group Bruno acquires André Celis’ nine petrol stations in Flemish Brabant, continuing its expansion in Flanders.
André Celis is a group of companies headquartered in Lubbeek and employs around 170 people in central Flemish Brabant. Besides the unmanned petrol stations in Averbode, Booischot, Herselt, Wilsele, Kortenberg, Langdorp, Sint-Joris-Winge, Kumtich and Tienen, the group mainly has activity around and around the construction sector.
“Group Bruno was the most suitable partner for us to let this activity continue,” says Nick Celis of the André Celis Group. “They have the right focus in a rapidly changing business of petrol stations and shops. With this deal, our family business is leaving the fuel sector after more than 60 years and we will further focus on the building materials sector, natural stone processing and treatment as well as recycling of construction and demolition waste.”
Under the Esso flag
“The takeover was an opportunity we could not pass up,” says Noë Bruno, director of Group Bruno. “Flemish Brabant was still a blind spot for us. We want to grow into a Flemish energy player and this takeover fits in with that. Earlier, we also took over an Esso filling station in Kampenhout-Sas. Because we now have branches in all Flemish provinces, we are officially a Flemish energy company with 34 service stations. The nine André Celis Service Stations will come under the Esso flag. In addition, we will also build a Bruno Foodcorner at at least five locations.”
In the short term, the branches of André Celis Tank Stations will be transformed into Esso service stations. The agreement between Group Bruno and Esso was extended early this year for 10 years, until 31 December 2035.
