Masses of Dutch flock to German Kranenburg for cheap fuel and cigarettes

Busy in Germany: the Argos petrol station in Kranenburg is experiencing an influx of Dutch people. They owe this to the low prices for fuel and cigarettes, resulting in crowds and waiting times.
Dutch people flock to Germany to fill up, especially at the Argos filling station just across the border in Kranenburg. In and around the petrol station, crowds and chaos prevail. From the roundabout, cars line up in queues to fill up cheaply and buy cigarettes just as cheaply.
All this is due to the lower excise duty on both in Germany. Even including the extra kilometres to Kranenburg, the trip remains worthwhile. Customers sometimes leave the shop with full bags of cartons of cigarettes. The situation is not expected to change any time soon.
