Rotterdam The Hague Airport gets hydrogen refuelling station

A hydrogen filling station for passenger cars, trucks, vans and special vehicles is being built on the Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTHA) site. Fountain Fuel’s station will be located next to Argos’ existing filling station.
Serving those different types of vehicles, the hydrogen filling station will be the first of its kind in Rotterdam. Visitors can visit the location at the entrance to the airport grounds from mid-2025, where it will be accessible to everyone. “For Rotterdam, it is important for entrepreneurs to have sufficient e-charging and hydrogen refuelling facilities to enable zero-emission driving into the city,” explains Fountain Fuel.
Hydrogen market development
The airport itself is obviously enthusiastic about the arrival of the hydrogen refuelling site, which anticipates the future. Daan van Dijk, senior innovator at RTHA: “The arrival of a hydrogen filling station on our premises is an important step in the further development of the hydrogen market. After all, hydrogen offers promising opportunities for the future of aviation, for example as a raw material for more sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or later even as a direct fuel. With the refuelling station, hydrogen will become more readily available at and around the airport. By making adjustments to the infrastructure now, we and the Rotterdam region are preparing for these new forms of propulsion.”
